The Safest Place to Store What I Found at SHOT Show

January 26, 2018 by I Hunt, Esq. Leave a Comment

It’s the last day of SHOT Show and after walking the event for the last few days and identifying the new things I may need to add to my collection (you know things like the FN 15 pistol chambered in 300BLK, Franklin Armory Militia Praefector, Arex Alpha pistol, CZ Scorpion Carbine Extended Handguard, and IWI Tavor T12 Shotgun just to name a few), I realized I was going to need a new safe.

Liberty Safe – 30 Years in business and a banner you couldn’t miss.

There are definitely a few safe companies at the show; however, I couldn’t miss the big Liberty Safe banners looming overhead, so I ran over to check things out. I learned that 2018 was going to be the 30th Anniversary for Liberty and was appropriately impressed by how its safe handled a 1,000 lbs. of cement being dropped on it and how well they survived when a family owned gun shop was destroyed by fire. Moreover, with the support of Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, and others, how could I not want to see what they had to offer? Simply put, I was not disappointed.

The quality and craftsmanship is amazing and being made in America, well, you have my vote. I started looking into some of its smaller models because I figured I was only going to get a few more guns this year but Liberty offered some sage advice, “Buy bigger than you think you need! You will always find more things to put in your safe than you think.”

The Fatboy – It should look great in my home office.

I ended up with the Fatboy model that holds up to 64 long guns. Keep in mind, gun count is relative. I was quickly informed that while a 64 gun safe will fit 64 lever action .22s—and you can tell from my selections above, I will have a little different collection than a bunch of .22s, so that count will go down a bit. However, with the extra capacity, it may take me a few more shows to fill it up and I’ll can know my new investments will be truly safe.

If you are like me and have need a safe (whether for the first time or because you can’t help but pick up a few new things) then I would seriously check out a Liberty Safe.

Do you own a Liberty safe? Which model? Share you answer in the comment section.
