News stories of civilian self-defense seldom receive adequate media coverage. After all, armed good guys stopping violent felons does not make headlines like the lives of innocents being taken. Bias and agendas play their part, but the media does not cover an event that did not happen, such as a case where a good guy stopped a violent event before it resulted in the loss of innocent life. However, these are exactly the type of stories we need to highlight to educate non gun owners before they head to the voting booth.
North Carolina Mom Fires Gun to Ward Off Armed Burglar
A North Carolina mother saved her home and her 10-year-old son after she exchanged gunfire with a would-be burglar early Wednesday morning, police revealed.
The 31-year-old woman and her son were at their home in Burlington, northwest of Raleigh, when she was woken up by the sound of someone breaking in through the kitchen window at around 3:55 a.m., according to investigators.
The woman, armed with a pistol, confronted the suspect who opened fire with what police said was a semi-automatic pistol.
The unidentified woman was able to scare off the would-be robber who eventually retreated back through the window. She was not hurt and police said she would not be charged.
It was not clear if the suspect, who was described as a black man in his early-to-mid-twenties, sustained any injuries.
Burlington Police were still looking for the intruder who ran off. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, investigators said.
Son Saves Family Of 6: Takes Out Armed Home Invader With Head Shot
Houston, Texas — A planned attack on a family was thwarted by the son who was returning to the home with his mother. Upon arrival, chaos was happening inside the home as 3 armed intruders ambushed the father as he arrived home from work and forced him inside.
The armed suspects were hiding in the bushes when the father approached the home.
Two sisters inside hid in a bedroom closet while the suspects ransacked the property.
The girls, a 21 year old and a 15 year old, managed to hit a panic alarm as the home invasion continued. Eventually, the suspects found the girls while searching the home.

Shortly after this began, the son arrived at the home with his mother and another sibling in the vehicle. Once he realized that something was wrong, he grabbed his gun and went after the armed suspects in an attempt to stop them from terrorizing his family.
One of the suspects, who was armed, was shot in the head.
The other two suspects jumped on top of the hood of the mother’s car while she and another child were still inside. The mom drove away and located a police officer at a nearby Whataburger.

Police told reporters that it doesn’t appear that any of the suspects fired their guns.
They were probably too busy worrying about whether or not their lives were about to end at the hands of an angry member of the family they just attacked.

God blesss the young man for defending his family. At 10 years old I wouldn’t want to put this burden on him however it sounds like the young man was somewhat versed in the use of a pistol as well as defensive techniques. His actions could well have saved the lives of his entire family ! Actions of an individual speak ‘VOLUMNS’ for their character. Having spent 30 years in law Enforcement I can speak of this young man’s actions from experience.
