Armed Good Guys: Home Invader Poses as Sheriff

February 10, 2020 by David Dolbee 2 Comments

News stories of civilian self-defense seldom receive adequate media coverage. After all, armed good guys stopping violent felons does not make headlines like the lives of innocents being taken. Bias and agendas play their part, but the media does not cover an event that did not happen, such as a case where a good guy stopped a violent event before it resulted in the loss of innocent life. However, these are exactly the type of stories we need to highlight to educate non gun owners before they head to the voting booth.

Home Invader Posing as Sheriff Deputy

Last week, The Armory ran an article titled, “Defending Your Home — Inside Issues.” The article detailed a need to be armed inside the home, as well as a few scenarios to consider be the SHTF. This first story of this week’s edition of “Armed Good Guys” is a frighteningly true story, but it is an excellent case example of why you need to be armed 24/7—even when relaxing in the comfort of your own home.

A family in Tulare County, California, is lucky to be alive after a gunfight broke out when home invaders pretending to be sheriff’s deputies attempted to gain entry to their home earlier this week.

The frightening situation unfolded at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday when the homeowner, his wife, and a 13-year-old child were sitting inside the home when they suddenly heard a loud banging on the front door, with several men yelling “sheriff’s office” KFSN reported.

“They can hear them yelling ‘Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s Office,'” says Tulare County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Torres. “The victims thought it was odd that it was late hours, so the suspects then forced their way into the living room area, they busted the front door.”

According to a statement from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, that’s when the family realized the men weren’t law enforcement since they weren’t wearing uniforms or badges. That’s when the homeowner, who was armed, confronted the suspects. A gunfight broke out and one of the suspects was shot dead inside the home during the attempted home invasion.

“The man, along with additional suspects, forced the front door open to the home while yelling “Sheriff’s Office”” the statement read. “The suspects pushed their way inside and that’s when the homeowner confronted the suspects.”

At that point, the homeowner and suspects shot at each other, with one suspect hit in the upper body by the homeowner. The suspect died at the scene. No one else in the home, including a 13-year-old child, was hurt in the exchange.

“Although we are in the early stages, it was a home invasion that went terribly wrong,” Torres said. “There were four people in the residence, along with a 13-year-old that could have all been killed if it wasn’t for the homeowner taking action.”

The entire incident unfolded over a few minutes, leaving the family shaken up, police said.

An autopsy for the suspect has been scheduled to occur later on Thursday. His name and official cause of death will be released once that’s complete.

The Sheriff’s Office says they are asking anyone who was in the area Tuesday night and saw anything suspicious to contact their department.

Texas: 68-Year-Old Woman Attacked By Two Thugs, Saved by GGWAG

Fort Worth, TX – A 68-year-old woman is alive and recovering at home in Denton, TX after a run in with two thugs at the Hulen Mall in Fort Worth.

On Tuesday, January 28, the woman was walking out to her car from the Macy’s in the mall. She said that she was distracted by being on her phone and not paying attention to what was going on around her.

Meanwhile, mall footage shows two young thugs wandering the area outside the mall. Fort Worth police officer Buddy Calzada said that it looked like the two men were ‘casing’ the parking lot. They were looking for an easy score, and this distracted older lady was the perfect target. The woman reported what happened: “As my car unlocked (you know the Miracle of keyless entry) one man rushed me. A gun, mace or anything else would have been no use to me because I was caught off guard. I did though began to scream. This was the right thing to do.”

At this point, the second thug opened the passenger door and drug the woman into her car from the other side. While she battled the two men in her car, one of them punched her in the face. They pushed her out on the ground and tried to drive away in her car. Unfortunately for them, they weren’t bright enough to realize that the electronic key was in the woman’s pocket.

The woman screamed her head off through the entire ordeal. That might have been her saving grace, as it drew the attention of a man nearby who was carrying a gun that day.

Officer Calzada was short on details about this woman’s rescuer, and said only, “There was a witness close by that actually drew a weapon. Those two suspects dropped the purse and belongings and took off running.”

The woman was shaken up, but paramedics treated her at the scene and she was able to go home.

Head on Swivel and Gun on Your Side

While it’s important to remind people to be aware of their surroundings, the police acted like if she had been paying attention, she could have called 911 faster.  But we all know this situation was over in less than 30 seconds.  The only reason this situation ended as well as it did was the Good Samaritan with the gun put those two thugs on the run before they could harm to the woman any more.

Police have released mall surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspects.  They were described as black men in their mid-20’s. The first was approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds.  He was wearing a black hoodie with black pants and shoes. The other suspect was 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds and was wearing gray sweat pants.

Self-Defense Is the Best Defense

It’s worth noting that this mall is a mere 11 miles, or 15 minute drive from the church in White Settlement, TX where hero Jack Wilson took out a mass shooter.  Not only is this Texas, but folks in this area are already on high alert.  You’d have to be an idiot to try a stunt like this in that area right now.  Any Texan who ever had their License to Carry is carrying these days.  People are done thinking that the world is relatively safe.  They’re done thinking that the cops will make it on time, too.

Georgia Gas Station Clerk Shoots Knife-Wielding Attacker

Duluth, GA – Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Wanna-be thugs always seem to learn that the hard way, and this guy is no different. The Duluth Police Department reported that at 3:35 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, it received a call about a shooting. The caller said the shooting occurred in the 3400 Block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at a Shell gas station.

When the police arrived on scene, they found 21-year-old Christian Saint Amour lying on the floor of the gas station. He had a single gunshot wound to the leg. The man was quickly taken to a hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The police started to investigate what happened right away. When they reviewed the surveillance video, they saw Saint Amour enter the gas station with a red shirt wrapped around his face and a large knife in his hand. He charged up to the counter and demanded money.

Check out what happened next:

The thug rushed to the counter, but the clerk was already ready for him. He pulled out a handgun and shot the suspect once. Next, he immediately pulled out his phone and dialed 911.

Meanwhile, the suspect will face a half-dozen charges when he’s released from the hospital. They include attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, and wearing a mask to conceal the identity of the wearer.

The cashier, however, isn’t facing any charges at this time. Hopefully he’s getting some paid time off! Night shift cashiers have to have guts and guns. That’s likely the only reason this guy is alive!

In the story about the thugs posing as sheriff deputies it says in part: ““Although we are in the early stages, it was a home invasion that went terribly wrong,” Torres said.”

No, it didn’t go wrong at all. Terrible it happened, sure, bad guy dead at the scene, not terrible in the least.

      Exactly right!

And the article also says, “An autopsy for the suspect….”

He is NOT a “suspect,” he is the person shot dead while committing a crime.
