Former Vice President ‘Shotgun’ Joe Biden, a Democrat, will reportedly enter the race for the White House within days, according to the Washington Times, and one of the consequences just might be that Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, running last in a field of 15 candidates, will get bumped out of every news cycle outside of Seattle and Olympia.
Known among Second Amendment activists as “Shotgun Joe” for his astonishing advice to a question about home defense during a February 2013 interview in which he suggested getting a shotgun and firing it off the deck to scare away burglars, Biden has been keeping pundits guessing for months whether he would run. But at age 76, he might just have to walk fast.
Biden recently was in the spotlight over allegations that he had made several people uncomfortable with his touchy-feely habit of putting his hands on people. But that seemed to be a short-lived controversy, since Biden is a Democrat rather than a Republican.
As reported at the time by the Huffington Post, Biden was participating in a Facebook Town Hall when the question came up about using guns for self-defense. A woman identified as ‘Kate” had submitted a question about the ability to defend against attack if Congress were to ban certain firearms and original capacity magazines.
“Kate,” Biden began in a rather condescending tone, “if you want to protect yourself, get a double barreled shotgun. I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that’s wooded and somewhat secluded. I said, Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put [up] that double barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.”
The remark brought immediate condemnation and guffaws from gun owners who noted uni
formly that anybody doing that could be charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm. Depending upon the jurisdiction, that could put someone in serious trouble with the law.
Underscoring that point, a man in Inslee’s own Washington State was convicted a couple of years later for firing a gun to scare away a car prowler. As the Vancouver Columbian noted at the time, Jeffrey C. Barton had used the “Biden defense,” arguing in court that, “I did what Joe Biden told me to do. I went outside and fired my shotgun in the air.”
The Clark County jury didn’t buy it, however.
According to the Washington Times, Biden had earlier stated he would not announce until everybody else who was planning to enter the race had gotten their opportunity for a headline. With Biden entering to challenge President Donald Trump, the Democratic primary season is almost certain to become colorful, as Biden is known for gaffes.
The shotgun flap may come back to haunt the aging politician, because gun control is guaranteed to be part of the political fray.

Some fool actually took “Creepy Joe” Biden’s advice and did fire off 2 blasts from his shotgun to scare prowlers away. When the police showed up, predictably, they arrested the homeowner. Biden is an idiot. He ran for president 2 or 3 times as I recall, unsuccessfully. There is a good reason Biden never made it to the White House…
As stupid as US voters seem to be, it wouldn’t surprise me if he would garner enough votes to become the nominee in what looks to be a pasture full of cow flop.
I dont think he would ban double barrel shotguns but I wonder if he is willing to fire the only two shots he has into the air how serious this man is about personal protection. Trump has proven his agenda that he thinks every American should own a gun. The banning bumpstocks was kind of a low blow but the NRA backed out and handed that one to the gov before a fight or a damn was given.
Moronic Joe thinks that everyone should have a shotgun, and no other firearms for protection. A vote for any liberal commie Democrat, you are opening the door for gun confiscation. Remember that Biden was put in charge of the Obama anti-gun task force after the Newtown school shooting. The scariest thing he ever said was that he envisioned a day when a cop would get a call to a house and every gun would be in a database, and the dispatcher could not only tell the cop if there were guns in the house, but that if there were things like assault rifles in the house, the dispatcher would automatically dispatch SWAT……it got even worse, he said that anyone on mental health drugs would also be in the database and the cop would know before he got there what drugs were in the house. Think about that: I have been in 4 law enforcement jobs, if I got a call that some guy with multiple assault rifles, on zanex or other anti-stress drugs, had fired a shot, I am gong in ready to fire. When in fact, it simply could be some neighbor who did not know that the guy had shot at a burglar or perhaps a coyote attacking his dog in his yard….. And it gets worse, the third thing he said was, a “woman” could file for a protective order in the morning, a judge could sign that order, and by then end of the day the ‘cops’ could have removed all those guns from the house…..Just saying, this guy is nuts. I think those statements were made December 14th, 2014. A few months ago, I took my little dogs out too pee about 10:00 pm, 4 coyotes came out of nowhere and ran toward them, I scared them off, and in the house and got a gun, one of the coyotes remained, I fired one time and do not know if I even hit him. I live in the suburbs,.
I would NEVER vote for anyone that would try to take guns away from law abiding citizens !
