Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is doing everything she can to distance herself from some of her questionable comments about firearms.
In the weeks since installing Harris as a last-minute replacement for President Biden, some of her questionable positions from the past are coming to light.
Harris, a California native who served as a Senator and Attorney General there, suddenly sees herself pandering to a wider range of Americans. A bigger seat means more scrutiny, so expect Harris to tone down some of her more controversial takes.
Translation: handlers, handle [but the internet’s forever].
Harris and the Second Amendment
“Upon being elected, I will give the United States Congress a hundred days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws.”
A quote from Ms Harris when she was bidding for Vice in the spring of 2019.
Slippery Slope Harris
Harris covets universal background checks and red-flag laws. A red-flag law is a gun law that permits a state court to temporarily seize firearms from a person who they believe may present a danger.
Sift through the rhetoric and you come away with big government at the cost of fewer individual rights. Today, it’s your AR-15, tomorrow, who knows? It’s a slippery slope with authoritarians, so heed the guidance of our forefathers and push back whenever possible.
The vice president’s track record concerning guns hasn’t gone unnoticed, particularly by the NRA. The association took to X with a series of video tweets that highlighted Harris’ past views.
One such tweet read:
“Harris has repeatedly stated that if Congress is unwilling to pass her agenda, she will simply do it by Executive Order.”
Subtext: If you disagree with my anti-gun views, I’ll call rank and show what autocratic government is.

Senator Harris and Her Questionable Positions
Earlier this week, news broke that Harris donated to an anti-police group as DC struggled with epidemic crime.
Legal Aid DC is a nonprofit law group that provides services to impoverished Washington residents. They’re adamant about slashing police budgets and decreasing patrols in high-crime areas.
The group has held other questionable positions, such as demands to turn D.C. into a migrant paradise. Legal Aid DC called for housing handouts, and other social benefits to migrants arriving from parts unknown. America first? Not quite.
It’s a moment worth looking at, as it unveils some of the core principles a figure like Harris holds.
A former NYPD inspector was having none of it. He blasted Harris, attributing the poor state of U.S. cities to public servants like her who behave more like campus activists.
Keys for Harris is the Blue Wall and Swingy Sunbelt States
What was once a lock for Trump suddenly seems like a pick’em. One poll from Morning Consult of 11,778 registered voters shows a 3-point lead for Harris. Also worth mentioning is that Harris has been marginally ahead of Trump since the announcement of their match-up.
One key to Harris pulling off the upset is the so-called Blue Wall, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin respectively. When residents from these states were polled in May about who they’d be voting for in a Biden-Trump showdown, the numbers:
PA Biden 37% Trump 41%
MI Biden 42% Trump 39%
WI Biden 39% Trump 40%
Numbers from this past weekend in those same three states:
PA Harris 46% Trump 44%
MI Harris 48% Trump 43%
WI Harris 49% Trump 43%
If the Blue Wall can stay in Harris’ favor and she manages to do respectable in swingy sunbelt states like Arizona, North Carolina, and Nevada, we could witness the first woman President of the United States of America. Rest assured, that’s the exact narrative the Democrats will pound the airwaves with.
In the meantime, Trump was interviewed by Elon Musk live on his website X earlier this week. Both candidates are burning the midnight oil as the autumn winds await stage left. Who emerges victorious remains a mystery, but once the debates roll around, it’s likely to see a burst in Trump’s popularity.

“Harris wants a ban on assault rifles, along with universal background checks and red-flag laws.”
“Today, it’s your assault rifles, tomorrow, who knows?”
If you want to be a reporter, can you at least try to use the correct terminology? There is already a “ban” on assault rifles in that civilians can not own one without registering it with the federal government, going through a background check that the ATF slow walks, and paying a $200 tax. No “NEW” assault rifles are allowed for the civilian population that haven’t been ‘in the system’ since 1986. Assault rifles, AKA machine guns, are highly regulated. Harris wants to make a new ban that will cover “assault weapons”, which is not a specifically term but varies from state to state and municipality that use that terminology. The term “assault weapon” was created by the anti-gun crowd to conflate semi-automatic firearms and machine guns so the general public doesn’t know the difference. Their plan appears to be working with you and you’re just spreading it.

Well said, Don. The implicit message is that Kamala and co. want to pull a Pol Pot — AKA stranglehold on power.
