Gun Freeze North of the Border

June 7, 2022 by Ara 1 Comment

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently passed legislation in Canada effectively freezing the sale and purchase of handguns.

Internationally, the new gun reform flew under the radar. It also went largely unnoticed by many Canadians.

In the wake of the Uvalde school shooting, power-hungry politicians north of the border are seizing the opportunity to trample individual freedoms.

According to Trudeau, the mass shooting in Texas was a wake-up call.

He asserts gun violence is more common than ever before.

“We need to deal with this matter now before it becomes an epidemic”, Trudeau stated.

The irony of this new gun reform is its timing. 2021 was an election year in Canada.

Naturally, Prime Minister Trudeau abstained from discussing firearms and gun laws to avoid possible fallout at the polls.

Fast forward to post-election and a flashpoint moment like Uvalde presented itself.

Trudeau’s reaction was predictable for a leader with his track record.

The new handgun freeze contains exceptions; elite sports shooters, Olympic athletes, and security guards will be permitted to keep their guns.

Canadians who already own firearms will also be permitted to keep them; for now.

To be clear, Canada already has strict gun laws.

In 2020, Canada banned the sale and use of approximately 1,500 models of assault rifles like the AR-15 in the wake of its own mass shooting in Nova Scotia.

As for these new restrictions, the government requires long-gun magazines to be permanently altered so they can never hold more than five rounds.

Also, the new laws ban the possession of some toy guns that look like real guns.

Furthermore, the sale and transfer of large-capacity magazines will no longer be permitted.

The bill will allow for the automatic removal of gun licenses from people who commit domestic violence or engage in criminal harassment, such as stalking.

Have Canadians pushed back?

A certain fraction of gun owners, specifically the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights, cite this new crackdown as absurd.

They contend the federal government already has several laws in place which they have failed to employ.

They state the new legislation as yet another example of ostracizing a populace of Canadians, specifically those with right-leaning political views.

Most alarming is how swiftly Trudeau and his cabinet chose to act.

It leads one to believe this has been something on their radar for quite some time. They were merely looking for the right opportunity to pounce.

Gun reform is the soup du jour in 2022.

Mainstream media continues to push this agenda with constant coverage of mass shootings.

Do mass shootings occur? Undeniably so.

However, it would be refreshing to see the media share stories where gun owners stave off potentially tragic outcomes.

For instance, homeowners who defend loved ones when an intruder enters.

Or business owners who defend their livelihoods when faced with violence.

Such incidents occur more frequently than mass shootings yet do not get a fraction of the coverage.

In fact, the disparity is laughable.

Why? Gun control is political in nature and has very little to do with improving the lives of sovereign citizens.

Instead, the real agenda is power-hungry autocrats doing everything under the sun to expand their influence.

Canadians did little to resist Prime Minister Trudeau’s latest power grab.

It will be interesting to see Americans’ response when elected officials come for their guns.

The moment it occurs, rest assured the United States of America will experience another Civil War.

Vote , resist, revolt! Three options hope it doesn’t get to the last one. That being said the tree of liberty occasionally has to be refreshed with the blood of Patriots ! Communists be forewarned! We will not stand down standby or stand aside ! Moan Abe!
