News stories of civilian self-defense seldom receive adequate media coverage. After all, armed good guys stopping violent felons does not make headlines like the lives of innocents being taken. Bias and agendas play their part, but the media does not cover an event that did not happen, such as a case where a good guy stopped a violent event before it resulted in the loss of innocent life. However, these are exactly the type of stories we need to highlight to educate non gun owners before they head to the voting booth.
Woman With CCW Fends off Would-Be Robber
Chicago, IL – A woman with a concealed-carry permit stopped a robbery Thursday after exchanging gunfire with the would-be robber in Little Village on the southwest side. The woman was standing in front of her home about 6:50 p.m. in the 4100 block of West 24th Place when a male approached her with a gun and demanded her property, Chicago police said.
Here’s what happens when a law-abiding citizen in Chicago has a gun.
The 33-year-old refused to hand over her things, and instead pulled out a gun of her own, police said. The two exchanged gunfire as the male ran off, and no one was struck. Area Central detectives are investigating.
‘Nuff said. An unarmed society is a society of victims. However, when given the opportunity to defend themselves, you have cases like this brave woman from Chicago who can decide not to be a victim and take charge of their own.
Armed Robber Takes 150-Grain Bullet After Drawing his Gun
This one has it all. Quick response, situational awareness, malfunction clearing, successful defense. It did take five shots before the concealed carrier put a round on target, but that is not a case of marksmanship, as the video shows. The man neutralized the threat (who fired six shots) by keeping him pinned down, until he had a clear shot, which ended the fight. Here is the full story from
Two employees were at a mobile phone store when an armed man with his face covered came in to try and score some cash and goods.
One of the employees was armed, and had his hand on his gun even before the bad guy displayed his. That’s situational awareness, as he had a gut feeling that this guy was up to no good.
In total, the armed robber fired six shots and the armed employee fired five. Luckily, each of the robber’s shots missed.
During the self-defensive shooting, the armed employee experienced a malfunction with his firearm. He was able to quickly clear it under stress and get himself back in the fight.
You’ll want to watch this video. It shows life with a gun as real as it gets. There are always lessons to be learned, should you ever find yourself forced into a self-defense situation.
John from ASP also had an interview with the armed employee, which provides even more details about the events that unfolded. You can watch that interview below.

Kept his head and cleared the Malfunction. Did everything else correctly except hit the Bad Guy the first, second, third, or fourth time.
Would have kept shooting the crawling bad guy even if I had to reload.

Good outcome! Looks like the jam might have been caused by his left thumb riding on top of the side
