For anyone living under a rock, life in Canada is approaching the unbearable.
The country issued more lockdown orders during the Coronavirus pandemic than any other nation except for The People’s Republic of China.
Free thought, freedom of expression, and public assembly, all have fallen at the waist side thanks in large part to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Government.
The latest controversy surrounds Bill C-21, legislation put forth by the Canadian Government. What is C-21? In simplest terms, Gun Control.
In 2020, the Canadian Government introduced and passed Bill C-21. They pitched the bill as a way to prevent the sale of Canadian handguns. Fast forward two years and the Feds are attempting to amend the bill in an effort to ban further weapons.
Right about now, I can hear my fellow patriots south of the border screaming ‘WE TOLD YOU SO!’
Gun advocates and supporters of The Second Amendment live and die by this sentiment. For decades, they have trumpeted rhetoric that effectively states if a sovereign citizen allows their Government to reform gun laws, a dangerous precedent is set.
Give them an inch, and rest assured, they will take a country mile. Seemingly equipped with a crystal ball, this is exactly what is happening in Canada.
These new Amendments drafted by the Government would ban any rifle or shotgun that could hold more than five rounds. In a country like Canada, where millions of hunters rely on these weapons as a way of life, there has been some pushback.
Two of the nation’s provinces [the equivalent of States in the U.S.], Alberta and Saskatchewan, have gone on record in opposition to the Amendments. They have even vowed legal action.
Gun control is a polarizing issue. Those with left-leaning ideologies typically support the banning of firearms. They applaud the Government’s ban on 1,500 models of guns since May 2020.
The other side of this coin possesses a starkly different belief system with respect to firearms. Conservatives are calling these new Amendments out for exactly what they are – the largest attack on law-abiding hunters in Canadian history. The Right, for lack of a better word, is right.
What started as the seizing of only handguns has degenerated into something far more nefarious. The new proposed list of guns to ban include both hunting rifles and shotguns.
Take the SKS semi-automatic rifle. Originally designed for military purposes by the Soviet Army in 1945, today the SKS is used as a primary hunting rifle. However, thanks to the Government’s new Amendments, the rifle finds itself on the list of weapons to ban.
Do you see through the matrix yet?
C-21 was originally slated as legislation designed to curtail only handguns. Two years later, hunting rifles and shotguns entered the discussion. Expect a slew of new firearms in Government crosshairs if these Amendments pass.
“C-21 targets guns that have one purpose and one purpose only; the ban of weapons that exert the greatest amount of lethal force in the shortest amount of time.’ [Marco Mendicini, Minister of Public Safety].
On the surface, such a stance reeks of pragmatism to the average layman.
Now, imagine a scenario in which Big Government implements tyrannical practices and threatens the lives of its citizens. The lack of weapons that inflict lethal force in the shortest amount of time makes their domination infinitely easier. Flawed logic you say? Look back at the mandates the Canadian Government imposed on Canadians for two years during Covid-19 and tell me as much with a straight face.
One can politicize gun violence and mass shootings. They can decry guns as detrimental to a healthy society. Nonetheless, I will take my chances in a society that trumpets responsible gun ownership over one that seeks to abolish guns altogether.
Some Americans are probably wondering what any of this has to do with them. Don’t delude yourself and think that what happens north of the 49th doesn’t trickle-down into the U.S.
Oftentimes, those in power run pilot programs in so-called free countries to see how people react. Should these test runs prove fruitful, they set their sights on America. Their main obstacle; The Second Amendment and the millions of free Americans who exercise it responsibly, soberly, and unapologetically.
In closing, Bill C-21 threatens the freedoms and livelihoods of Canadians.
What may seem like responsible leadership by elected officials to some, is far more devious. If they can take your right to defend yourself from tyranny, they have already won. If you don’t believe me, look back at Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Stalin as examples.
What did these men do prior to enslaving their countries? They took away the guns. Hook, line, and sinker.
