Glock G43X: Rumor or Truth?

December 28, 2018 by David Dolbee 18 Comments

We all know how much value there is in a good rumor, and personally, I would not put to much stock in them. On the other hand, there has been more than a bit of watercooler talk among gun writers that Glock is going to introduce the Glock G43X at the 2019 SHOT Show in late January.

A little more grip and four extra rounds? What wouldn’t you like about that?

Looking at the pattern, Glock introduced the G19X and G45. These options allowed the you to choose between a high capacity with a shorter barrel or a shorter grip with a longer, accuracy enhancing barrel. Both good options, depending on your personal preferences. However, for those who wanted something smaller yet, Glock offers the single stack G43.

The only potential negative for the G43 Slimline was its 6+1 capacity. Shooters simply seem to like more ammunition at the ready. If true, the G43X will feature a grip that is 4mm wider and 15mm longer. This will allow the G43X to accomodate a 10-round magazine, significantly upping the G43’s available capacity.

So far, Glock has refused to acknowledge that it will introduce the G43X or that it even exists…

If true, would the G43X top your list of new concealed carry pistols? What new model would you like to see Glock offer in the future? Share your answers in the comment section.

How about just offering factory +2 – +5 mags. or at least base plates and springs for the 43 and 42.

There is at least one vendor making 9 and 12 round magazines already. And the +1 (or 2) adapters are also available………….
People buy guns such as the G43 for a reason.
IOW a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist. Any ‘change’ in order to sell more guns I guess.

What’s another name for a Glock 43X? Walther PPQ SC. All joking aside, the G43X if real is way overdue.

Double-stack 10rd, 4mm bigger. Sounds like a G26 that’s .5mm smaller. No a lot of difference, I’ll keep my 26’s and save the cash for something else.

Sorry, but a Glock 19X and a Glock 45 have the same slide length, barrel length, and frame size. At this time, there is NO Glock factory 17 slide/barrel on a 19 size frame. It does not exist from Glock. Gabe Suarez, Suarez International, has made a hybrid 17 slide/barrel on a 26 ten round frame which works fine, but that is all. A Glock 43X with a 10 round capacity would be a Glock 26. Why bother???

I get why they’re doing it, to compete with the uber popular Sig P365, but making it a tad bigger like the S&W Shield would have made it more viable to fight with. Of course, it’s all about selling more pistols to people who don’t train that people who do.

This is more Glock genius in marketing. I will immediately sell my 43 to buy a 43X. Thank you Glock for making me buy another gun.

Get it dirty and hot. You’ll see why people who use their guns hard pay more for Glocks.

My current (and for the foreseeable future) EDC is a SIG 938 (The Emperor Scorpion version with threaded barrel, not for the silencer, but for the extra half inch of barrel). Better trigger than any Glock and 3 seven round magazines gives me 22 rounds of Speer PLus-P Gold Dots. (Usually accompanied by a S&W 442 or (gasp) a Kel-tec .32 ACP.)
That said, my only Glock at the moment, and I’ve owned easily over a half dozen in various calibers over the years, is a Glock 17 with the butt cut to Glock 19 dimensions. THAT is what they need to introduce, scotch more sight radius and velocity and more concealable that the stock 17. Hard to beat for a concealable service size handgun.
I will, someday get yet another Glock 19 and cut it down to take Glock 26 mags. It would make a very nice, compact, fighting pistol.
