2018 NRA Show — Day 2

May 5, 2018 by BloggerAdmin Leave a Comment

An estimated 80,000 proud gun owners are descending on Dallas Texas May 4-6 for the National Rifle Association’s 2018 convention. Of course, K-Var and The Armory are on hand to represent our faith and support for the Second Amendment and to bring you all of the latest news from the show. Here is the Day 2 coverage.

We do not own or carry guns because we think we nee them to defend ourselves or loved ones. Instead, we have firearms in case we need them, Stephen Willeford found himself in just a situation. Although, initially, he was not in immediate danger, he felt called upon by the Shepard to be the sheepdog. If this does not make you proud to be a gun owner and an American, I don’t think anything will…

Springfield Armory Severs Ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods

Springfield Armory is severing ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring a group for anti-Second Amendment lobbying.

This latest action follows Dick’s Sporting Goods’ decision to remove and destroy all modern sporting rifles (MSR) from their inventory. In addition, they have denied Second Amendment rights to Americans under the age of 21. We at Springfield Armory believe that all law abiding American citizens of adult age are guaranteed this sacred right under our Constitution.

It is clear where Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, stand on the Second Amendment, and we want to be clear about our message in response. Their position runs counter to what we stand for as a company. At Springfield Armory, we believe in the right and principles fought for and secured by American patriots and our founding forefathers, without question. We will not accept Dick’s Sporting Goods’ continued attempts to deny Second Amendment freedoms to our fellow Americans.

The BLACKHAWK! Hybrid Folding Sight fuses a solid metal alloy core with an advanced co-polymer jacket to create a lightweight and extremely durable addition to any rifle.

The BLACKHAWK! Hybrid Folding Sight fuses a solid metal alloy core with an advanced co-polymer jacket to create a lightweight and extremely durable addition to any rifle. Both tough and lightweight, the hybrid construction eliminates excess bulk while providing tool-less windage and elevation adjustment dials. A steel A2 front sight post aids in accurate round placement, while a versatile rear sight aligns to the M4/AR15 A-frame front sight height. Boasting a magnetic twin aperture, the sight can be slipped up with a gloved hand, and holds tight under .308 recoil at an MSRP range of $59.95-$119.95.

Mossberg Rounds Out 590 Shockwave Offerings with 410 Bore

Following the ground-breaking introduction of the 12-gauge 590 Shockwave in 2017, Mossberg has continued to expand the line-up with a 20-gauge offering and additional 12-gauge models including the 590 JIC® (Just In Case) Shockwave. Now Mossberg delivers the ultimate lightweight and low-recoiling home defense platform with the announcement of the 590 Shockwave in 410 bore. This compact firearm features a 14-inch barrel length; Raptor® pistol grip; strapped forend; impressive 6-round total capacity; and weighs in at a mere 4.24 pounds.

Built on Mossberg’s proven pump-action design, the 590 Shockwave features non-binding twin action bars; positive steel-to-steel lock-up; an anti-jam elevator; dual extractors; and ambidextrous top-mounted safety. The 590 design also includes an anodized aluminum receiver, drilled and tapped for ease of adding optics, and magazine tube with convenient clean-out cap. The 410 bore offering is 2.5- and 3-inch capable; features a 14-inch heavy-walled, cylinder bore barrel with single bead sight; and sling swivel studs. The Shockwave Raptor pistol grip, constructed of durable polymer, has an enhanced textured finish and “bird’s head” shaped-profile, allowing for greater control while lessening felt recoil. The cob-styled, synthetic forend is strapped for safety, greater control and smoother operation. The grip and forend feature a black finish and exposed metalwork has a complementing matte blue finish.

With an overall length of 26.37 inches, the BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) has classified this compact 590 Shockwave platform as a “Non-NFA Firearm,” requiring no tax stamp for transfers. Defined as a firearm, not a long gun, Federal Law does require the purchaser of a 590 Shockwave to be 21 years of age.

Mossberg was the first manufacturer to bring these 14-inch barreled, non-NFA firearms to the marketplace and now offers three 12-gauge models, a 20-gauge option and the new 410 bore from which to choose. For more information on the 590 Shockwave series, please visit www.mossberg.com.

Disclaimer: Although the Mossberg 590 Shockwave is classified as a “firearm” under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), and is not subject to the provisions of the National Firearms Act (NFA), state and local laws may be more restrictive. Although it is legal federally, the 590 Shockwave may be considered a “short-barreled” shotgun or “assault weapon” by certain state and local laws; and therefore illegal to possess. Please check with your local authorities concerning the legality of possessing a firearm of this configuration.

SIG SAUER Introduces New SIG 365 Ammunition

SIG SAUER, Inc. introduces new, high-performance SIG 365 Elite Performance Ammunition in 115gr 9mm SIG V-Crown and SIG FMJ loads. Designed for optimal performance in short barrel, concealed carry pistols, such as its namesake – the revolutionary P365 high-capacity, micro compact – SIG 365 ammunition uses low-flash, clean burning powders for maximum performance and shootablity.

Training the way you carry is paramount, and SIG full metal jacket (FMJ) ammunition is engineered to shoot like SIG V-Crown jacketed hollow point (JHP) personal defense loads – same recoil, velocity and importantly, same point of impact – to ensure a seamless transition from training ammunition to carry ammunition. Corresponding SIG V-Crown and FMJ rounds are loaded on the same machines, use the same brass and are loaded to the same pressures. They use the same clean-burning powder that is consumed before the projectile leaves the barrel, for the optimal mix of muzzle velocity and muzzle energy, while still making recoil very comfortable and manageable.

SIG V-Crown stacked hollow point ammunition is especially effective for personal defense. The proprietary V-Crown bullet delivers exceptional on target energy with maximum weight retention and expansion for ultimate stopping power, and the V-Crown’s coated, nickel-plated cases provide enhanced lubricity, superior corrosion resistance, and reliable feeding and extraction. SIG FMJ training ammunition features durable, copper jacketed bullets that stay with the lead on impact and offers the perfect combination of affordability and performance.

“SIG 365 Elite Performance Ammunition is designed for exceptional performance in the new SIG P365 and other short barrel pistols,” said Bud Fini, Executive Vice President of the SIG SAUER Ammunition Division and Special Projects. “We use clean burning powders that are consumed before the projectile leaves the barrel, resulting in optimal muzzle velocity and muzzle energy. SIG 365 FMJ ammunition is an affordable, high-performance training load, while the award-winning SIG V-Crown stacked hollow point ammunition is exceptionally effective for personal defense, delivering outstanding accuracy, reliable uniform expansion and maximum terminal performance.”

Muzzle velocity for both 9mm SIG 365 115gr V-Crown and FMJ loads is 1,050 fps from the P365 3.1-inch barrel with muzzle energy of 282 ft-lbs.

SIG SAUER V-Crown ammunition meets the FBI protocol test requirements and all Elite Performance Ammunition is manufactured to SAAMI specifications by SIG SAUER at the company’s new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
