The Zastava M77 Sporting Rifle

Ever since my experience with the Saiga AK, I have liked the AK platform. It is easy to break down, dependable, relatively low recoil, and I have personally found them reliably accurate out to 500 yards. I also like that I don’t have to take my head off the rifle to rack it. Now you take that rifle, make it in .308 win/7.62×51, and give it wooden furniture. That is a rifle that grabs my attention.

My Experience with the Arsenal SLR106 AK-74 Rifle

Back when I was in my early 20s, I wanted to get a semi-auto “tactical” rifle. Living in California my options were limited. I could build an AR-15 or get a California compliant Saiga AK-47. I was fresh out of the Army. So, I decided to get the AK-47. That rifle was a solid shooter. I could consistently shoot steel targets at 500 meters. The biggest drawback for me was the “cheap” ammo was all steel. As I mentioned before, I lived in California. I was also working at a shooting range. I have put out more fires than I can count that were started by steel ammo. With the knowledge that I couldn’t shoot it as freely as I wanted, I sold the rifle to a friend of mine. Dissident Arms Review: Red Oktober 2019

Red Oktober is an AK47 shooting competition hosted by Rifle Dynamics in Las Vegas, NV. This year, it was held at Pro Gun Club just outside Las Vegas where I had the pleasure of running into Mike Whitesides and Lan Nguyen of Dissident Arms. Before going into the details of our encounter, I should explain that I am a sales rep at MSR Distribution in Las Vegas and Dissident Arms (DA) is one of the top dealers that I supply firearms to.
