More Liberty Is (Almost) Always the Answer
As most of you know there was an active shooter incident in Jacksonville, Florida on August 26th, 2018. It is still too soon to seriously discuss the motives, reasons… for the despicable act of scumbag #19. For the record, I never (directly) add to the infamy of the “shooter.” Infamy is often a major portion of their goal. They fantasize the acts of cowardice, depravity and terrorism to make their lives “real” or “meaningful.” It does not, despite the fawning adulation the mainstream media and others, provide them. If it were up to me, they, or their memory, would be treated with the same amount of respect General Pershing gave Muslim Filipino terrorists, at the opening of the 20th century. If you are unaware, look it up. [Read more…] about More Liberty Is (Almost) Always the Answer

With an optic budget topping out at $400 for a red dot sight, the SIG Romeo 7 not only fills the need, it surpasses optics costing hundreds more. Outrage: City Contractors Forced to Disclose NRA Ties
If this is not a lawsuit in the making, I am not sure what is. The Los Angeles City Council recently passed a motion forcing city contractors to disclose any ties or support with the National Rifle Association (NRA). [Read more…] about Outrage: City Contractors Forced to Disclose NRA Ties

Review: Stoeger Coach Gun — Side-by-Side Home Defense
Unlike some of the other old guys, I do not have a double barrel shotgun tradition. I grew up using my grandfather’s Winchester Model 12 pump action or Remington 11-87 automatic. My first shotgun was a Mossberg 500. It was only later in life that I picked up a double barrel here and there. While I enjoyed firing them, I have clung to my pump-action shotguns. Recently, I tested a well made, reliable, and fast-handling double-barrel shotgun that just may be among the best firearms I have yet tested for personal defense. I purchased the Stoeger Coach Gun on a lark and found a credible shotgun. It is simple to operate and offers high hit potential. Armed Good Guys: ‘I Don’t Want to Die This Way’
News stories of civilian self-defense seldom receive adequate media coverage. After all, armed good guys stopping violent felons does not make headlines like the lives of innocents being taken. Bias and agendas play their part, but the media does not cover an event that did not happen, such as a case where a good guy stopped a violent event before it it resulted in the loss of innocent life. However, these are exactly the type of stories we need to highlight to educate non gun owners before they head to the voting booth. [Read more…] about Armed Good Guys: ‘I Don’t Want to Die This Way’

Arex entered the firearms market a few of years ago with a single model in hand. Sometimes, when your product is good enough, one is all you need. Arex quickly followed its initial success with compact and suppressor-ready tactical versions. Video: Defense Distributed Under New Leadership
At a news conference in Austin, Texas, Paloma Heindorff announced that she has taken the position of Director at Defense Distributed now that Cody Wilson has resigned the post amid his legal troubles over alleged sex with a 16-year-old prostitute. The press conference has become global news. Defense Distributed has always been adept at beating the establishment media. They posted the entire new conference online at Youtube the same day. It is worth watching. The video is reasonably short, at 19:37 minutes Youtube has a history of taking down Defense Distributed videos. Gun Test: Glock Model 35
I have previously stated that the long slide Glock Model 35 is a good special team pistol for use by agencies issuing Glock pistols. However, the long slide Glock is also a great home defense and competition pistol. For those who can conceal the piece beneath covering garments, the Glock long slide is a viable defensive handgun. In the proper caliber, the pistol is also useful for hunting thin-skinned game. [Read more…] about Gun Test: Glock Model 35

Magazine Loaders — Spend Your Time Shooting!
Loading AR magazines is a chore but it is one of the most important tasks when using an AR—busting thumbs is just part of the job. Range time is precious, and I don’t want to waste time loading 30-rounders when I can be training, so I have a plan that involves magazine loaders to take the work out of recharging magazines. WA Preemption Law Faces Political Opposition
Things are heating up in King County, Wash., where the County Council is expected to join an effort by at least two local city governments to adopt regulations that challenge the Evergreen State’s long-standing preemption statute. The statute forbids local governments from passing their own gun control laws, by approving a proposal put forth by Councilman Joe McDermott. Wake Up – Midterms Matter
As kids are back to school and parents are getting back into a routine, I want to remind everyone that soon they are going to have an opportunity to shape Nevada and America unlike very few midterm elections before.
Nevada has the opportunity to elect a whole new executive branch that will shape the next four years. A new governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general are inevitable and whomever Nevada elects will have the task of assuring Nevada continues to be a place where both individuals and businesses can coexist and thrive. Colt 1911 — The Name Says it All
The Colt 1911 Government Model handgun was the result of more than a decade of painstaking development. The .45 Automatic Colt Pistol cartridge was developed in a shorter period with input from many of the great minds of the day including General John T Thompson. John Moses Browning introduced his first self-loading service pistol in 1900. The Colt .38 ACP automatic had interesting features but needed further development. The 1905 .45 automatic likewise needed more refinement. Thus, it was a combination of events led to the adoption of the Colt 1911 Government Model in 1911.
