Will Turning Off Your Laser Save the Batteries?
Crimson Trace has a new video series that dispels some of the myths surrounding firearm-mounted lasers. It is not uncommon to pick up a pistol with laser grips and find the switch in the off position. When you ask “Why?” the most common response is to save the batteries. Crimson Trace offers free batteries for life, so that mitigates part of the argument, but you still don’t want to pick up your firearm in an emergency only to discover a dead battery, so Crimson Trace addressed the issue in a video. Armed Good Guys: Husband and Wife Team Up to Thwart Robber
News stories of civilian self-defense seldom receive adequate media coverage. After all, armed good guys stopping violent felons does not make headlines like the lives of innocents being taken. However, these are exactly the type of stories we need to highlight to educate non gun owners before they head to the voting booth. Lee Loader: Survival Reloading Made Easy
For those getting started with reloading, a “round” of ammunition is composed of the case, often referred to as “brass,” which is usually made of reloadable brass, an appropriately-sized and powered replaceable centerfire primer, powder, and bullet. The whole process of a detonating round is simple; the hammer in the gun hits the firing pin, which hits the primer that detonates a small explosion to ignite the powder. In turn, the burning of the powder builds pressure inside the round in the chamber and pushes the bullet down the barrel. The chore is made simple with the Lee Loader. Crimson Trace: Laser Beams in a Gunfight
In this video, presented by Crimson Trace, Jim Staley and Brian from TacGas discuss and demonstrate one of the most prevalent myths when it comes to laser sights and why it’s important to utilize proper laser discipline. That lesson is supported by footage from a combat course that was held in an underground cave with zero natural light to show the use and effectiveness of combat lights and lasers. The Importance of One-Hand Shooting Training
It is interesting how handgun training has so many variables. As an example, most modern shooters regard two-hand fire as the default skill, so they practice two-hand fire less. In the past it was one-hand fire, and two-hand fire was used only at extreme range. There is no question that two-hand fire is the most accurate, but one-hand fire is the faster. The balance of speed and accuracy must be maintained. One-hand shooting will be used at short range and when speed is needed but accuracy cannot be sacrificed. Two-hand fire is used at the range at which you need more accuracy. [Read more…] about The Importance of One-Hand Shooting Training

Church Shootings Surpass School Shootings 3 to 1
All life is valuable. It seems, however, that every mass murderer targets those less capable of fighting back and therefore chooses gun-free zones and areas where they will likely find the least resistance due to the nature of the venue. Because Churches, like schools, are considered soft targets, they are more likely to endure criminal activity. [Read more…] about Church Shootings Surpass School Shootings 3 to 1

Good Guys Using Guns for Self-Defense
Good Guys using guns for self-defense is one thing the news fails to sufficiently cover. Oh sure, the antis are out in full force whenever someone commits a heinous act, blaming and vilifying the firearm more than the perpetrator. The loss of life is very serious, and we do not wish to aggrandize the loss of any life, whether or not it was justified. However, given the current daily assaults to our Second Amendment rights headlining the mainstream media’s coverage, highlighting instances where firearms were used for self-defense to educate ourselves as lawful concealed carriers and non gun owners is more critical than ever—especially with the midterm elections looming. Choosing the Right Holster
When you choose a handgun and holster, you are investing in a concealed carry system. The holster is an important part of the system, at least as important as the handgun itself. I have seen too many unserviceable, sorry excuses for holsters in my classes, and the hell of it is many carry such holsters to defend their life! [Read more…] about Choosing the Right Holster

Women Top New Concealed Carry Licensees
For gun control advocates, any discussion of concealed carry reciprocity is already over. If they have anything to say about it, you will have no such right. Across America, meanwhile, a growing segment of gun owners aren’t talking about gun rights. They’re acting. [Read more…] about Women Top New Concealed Carry Licensees

NPR: Danger of Firearm Ownership Outweighs Self-Defense Right
NPR, although it claims to be straight down the middle and apolitical, bias certainly rears its ugly head now and then. By admission, I understand the need to cause a little controversy to stimulate one, or both, sides of a political position to further the debate. However, when NPR recently challenged gun ownership for self-defense without a counterpoint to defend our position, it raised my hackles. Ready for Self-Defense or Fight Ready?
When training, you cannot judge an individual based on the skills he has been taught nor can you judge a system by one student. Students can learn additional systems to add to their arsenal, but few who train are learning to fight, most train for self-defense only. [Read more…] about Ready for Self-Defense or Fight Ready?

Advice from a Russian: Never Give Up Your Guns
These days, there are few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt, and culturally degenerating U.S.A., but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one’s self and possessions. This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, the Russians were one of the most heavily armed societies on earth.
