Review: Fiocchi 22 LR — First Class Plinking and Hunting

When I am shooting on my own time and my own dime, most of the shooting is that pastime called plinking—most often with Fiocchi 22 LR. I am fortunate to have plenty of dirt clods on a berm and I also use clay birds. I do not use the time proven tin can so much these days. I use paper because Birchwood Casey offers so many variations. [Read more…] about Review: Fiocchi 22 LR — First Class Plinking and Hunting

Guns, Rights — Taken Without Due Process

“Concerned a Co-Worker Is Dangerous? the KQED News headline asks. “This bill would let you petition the state to take their guns.” To make the case for adding to the state’s citizen disarmament options, a couple examples are given of California “gun violence restraining orders” being used to take guns away under petitions filed by family members or law enforcement officers. This latest push expands the list of those eligible to initiate gun seizures to employers, co-workers, high school and college staff members, and mental health workers. Does your ammunition choice matter in court?

Shopping for ammunition can often seem like a daunting task. With consumer overload from the different brands and an abundance of uses, when you’re looking at shelves of ammunition it can be difficult to figure out which type of ammo works best for your firearm and what is legal for you to have. Choosing Your First Concealed Carry Handgun

Choosing your first concealed carry handgun is a daunting task for most people. You may be at the mercy of the salesperson behind the counter or relying in the advice of a buddy or family member who “knows stuff about guns.” Neither choice would be good or bad, if you do your own homework and make an informed decision. The following six tips will put you on the right path. [Read more…] about Choosing Your First Concealed Carry Handgun

NRA-ILA: Again Fighting for the Second Amendment

Living a few hours south of Chicago, the anti-gun policies from Illinois’ blue dot, known as Cook County, in an otherwise red state are a real threat. Recently, a small town with a rather affluent population passed a ridiculous ban which prohibits the possession of popular sporting rifles such as the AR-15 and standard capacity magazines. However, just because you have money does not mean you can pass regulations that infringe on the citizen’s rights, and the NRA-ILA has joined the fight. Need a hard hitting .223 load? Grab some Fiocchi!

When practicing with the .223 Remington/AR-15 combination, I am always on the lookout for quality practice ammunition, such as offering from Fiocchi. While I handload, I do not always have time to keep up with the demand made in testing rifles, practice, and teaching. Most of my practice loads are my own handloads put up in reclaimed brass and topped by some type of 55-grain FMJ. [Read more…] about Need a hard hitting .223 load? Grab some Fiocchi!

Council of Great City Schools: Anti-Second Amendment Resolution

The Council of Great City Schools has published a resolution calling for severe infringements on the Second Amendment. It is something all gun owners and parents should be concerned with. The resolution is full of truisms, falsehoods, and logical fallacies that the masses (sheeple), if they took the time to read the resolution may gloss right over without an understanding or challenge. Slide Fire Throws in the Towel and Ceases Operations

As a result of recent regulation, we have lost yet another firearms related business—not to the forces of the market or competition and not due a slowing number of sales or profits. Instead, Slide Fire is closing its doors due the whims of the feel-good politics of politicians and the efforts of gun control advocates. Take Your Vepr AK Hunting!

American and Western soldiers have been facing the wrong end of a Kalashnikov rifle for better than half-a-century. The AK-47 is effective as a battle rifle, just as the Remington 700, Winchester Model 70, and Modern Sporting Rifle are. So, if you would take the last three hunting, why not the AK? And, if the Molot Vepr catches on, the North American cervid population may reap a similar whirlwind soldiers have, as the new AK chambers multiple calibers suitable for all big-game in the lower 48. Gun Control: If you control the banks (money), who needs the legal system?

Second Amendment groups, including the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), and hundreds of grassroots organizations, have preserved our right to self-defense and the Second Amendment. This has been done by making our voice heard to lawmakers at all levels of government. We have won some battles and lost others, but for the most part, our continuing efforts to keep lawmakers honest (regarding firearms legislation) have been successful. However, we now face a new threat that could easily derail the Second Amendment without a lawmaker filing a single vote. Review: Fiocchi .30-06 Springfield Ammunition

If you own a rifle in .30-06 Springfield, you know how powerful, accurate, and effective this cartridge can be, but do you know how well Fiocchi .30-06 Springfield ammunition shoots? The .30-06 was developed to match the German’s 8mm Mauser. The .30-06 outstrips the .303 British and 7.7 Japanese for power. [Read more…] about Review: Fiocchi .30-06 Springfield Ammunition

Retired Supreme Court Justice Calls for Second Amendment Repeal

In the November 2016 election, gun-owning Americans turned out to tell the nation that their rights mattered. The election that prevented Hillary Clinton from entering the Oval Office also stopped her from packing the Supreme Court with justices who are hostile to the Second Amendment. Gun Test: Rex Zero 9mm Compact

Recently, I was able to obtain, test, and evaluate the Arex Rex Zero 9mm compact. The results were good, as the pistol has proven reliable with every load, more accurate than expected, and ergonomically pleasing. The pistol is in some ways based on proven operating principles and the SIG P series handguns, but in other ways offers a fresh pistol from a proven manufacturing base. Olmos Park, Texas Gun Rights March

Over 540 gun rights thought-leaders converged on the community of Olmos Park, Texas to address grievances against Chief Rene Valenciano and some of his operational command, who have abused Texas citizens—according to the protesters and others who have seen documented video footage of the violations, deviating from good policing practices on the streets of Olmos Park, online, and on social media. A Lesson for Americans, Canada Teen Fights Gun Control

This is the story of a Canadian teenager who started an electronic petition to thwart the Canadian government’s latest gun control bill. American teens could learn something here. Instead of being the puppets of gun control agents, they should be standing up for their futures and fighting for their Constitutional rights. Review: IWI Tavor X95 — Bullpup Bliss

I know there are numerous reviews and videos regarding the IWI Tavor X95 (a favorite of mine comes from Tim at Military Arms Channel). So, this review is in no way seeking to replace any of those reviews. However, as an “average joe” shooter I want to tell you that this thing is fun, and accurate, to shoot. March NICS Checks Spiked, SAF Credits ‘Gun Control Hysteria’

A spike in the number of initiated background checks in March, via the FBI’s National Instant Check System (NICS), reflects a significant increase in the number of people apparently interested in buying guns, and a major gun rights organization is crediting the wave of gun control hysteria following the shooting tragedy at a Florida high school. Four Guns You Should Own

When I first started buying guns, I looked to fill categories. I needed a handgun, hunting rifle, and a shotgun. Next, I looked for a military rifle, something that was historic and battle proven. Next, I broke the handgun category to a revolver and a semi-automatic. The hunting rifle quickly expanded to rimfire, big game and varmint rifles. However you decide to select your next gun, here are four guns every shooting enthusiast should own. [Read more…] about Four Guns You Should Own

Review: March Rifle Scopes — The Choice of World Champions

A few months ago, I had never heard of March Rifle Scopes. Today, I am much the better for the experience. I decided I should test and evaluate at least one top-end rifle scope—for my benefit and the benefit of my readers.
