News stories of civilian self-defense seldom receive adequate media coverage. After all, an armed good guy stopping violent felons does not make headlines like the lives of innocents being taken. Bias and agendas play their part, but the media does not cover an event that did not happen, such as a case where a good guy stopped a violent event before it resulted in the loss of innocent life. However, these are exactly the type of stories we need to highlight to educate non gun owners before they head to the voting booth. [Read more…] about Armed Good Guy: Home Invasion Stopped With AR-15

Armed Bad Guy: Keester Stash in Backside, Gun in Front Blows His Junk Off
Man Allegedly Hiding Drugs In Backside Accidentally Shoots Himself In Testicles
I must admit, FOX News originally ran this story. At first, I thought it was simply too good not to share. I mean, this is cosmic justice for a career criminal. Then, I thought about it a bit more and realized that it is also the type of story that, unfortunately, gives law-abiding gun owners a bad name. Yes. Although he is a career criminal, an armed bad guy, it will give the law-abiding guns a bad name. Stories of negligent discharges such as this are, and will in the future, be used against us by the anti gunners. It is not right or fair; they will not spend any time to discover the details of how this nimrod who was legally forbidden from owning or possessing a firearm magically ended up with a gun in his pants. Instead, it will go down as a statistic of a “gun owner” mishandling a firearm and shooting himself. This is another area where, we as gun owners, need to combat the misuse of information that is erroneously used against us. Law Enforcement and Open Carry — A Good Interaction
After an injury a couple of years ago, and a serious case of pneumonia, I have changed exercise from running to brisk walking. Recently, I spent a couple of months in Middleton, Wisconsin. Most of my walking in the area started about 0500, but on Monday, July 9, I had stayed up late, coming back from a play at American Player’s Theater in Spring Green, Wisconsin. I slept in. I didn’t get out to exercise until after 0800. It was a mistake. Instead of a few cars along the route I was walking, it was a minor rush hour north of Lake Mendota. As usual, I was open carry. Good Guys Using Guns for Self-Defense
Good Guys using guns for self-defense is one thing the news fails to sufficiently cover. Oh sure, the antis are out in full force whenever someone commits a heinous act, blaming and vilifying the firearm more than the perpetrator. The loss of life is very serious, and we do not wish to aggrandize the loss of any life, whether or not it was justified. However, given the current daily assaults to our Second Amendment rights headlining the mainstream media’s coverage, highlighting instances where firearms were used for self-defense to educate ourselves as lawful concealed carriers and non gun owners is more critical than ever—especially with the midterm elections looming. Texas Church Shooting — What Is Safe?
The statistics say it all… It does not matter where you are at, your safety is at risk. Walmart is not safe. Elementary schools are not safe. Government buildings are not safe. Your home is not safe. And over the weekend, we watched in horror as places of worship (knife attacks at a synagogue in New York and church shooting in Texas) were attacked, demonstrating once again, they are not safe. The Texas shooter was known to police and had a criminal record. The suspect in New York was reported to have no criminal history. In the synagogue attack in New York, the suspect entered the Rabbi’s home and stabbed five people, fracturing one their skulls. In Texas, during church services, a man stood up, removed a shotgun from under a long coat, and pointed it at the parishioners. Two innocents were killed. At least one of them can be seen in the video reaching for a concealed handgun before being shot.

10 Tips for Concealed Carry
Practice (which in its verbal form is spelled “practise” in British spelling) is something you do while learning to get better. For example, doctors and lawyers practice their profession. That is not to say they are not knowledgeable. Instead, it is an acknowledgement that there is still more to learn. Concealed carry is much the same. I started to carry concealed close to three decades ago, yet I regularly attend trainings or look to articles or videos in an attempt to reinforce my skill set or learn something new.
